　　保險經(jīng)紀(jì)人葉永信(陳家樂 飾)某天接到一通神秘來電，電話中的男子問自殺后多久可以拿到賠償，隨后他接到上司通知有客戶指定他去跟進(jìn)保單，葉上門拜訪時親眼目睹一個孩子吊死在屋中，他隨即認(rèn)定客戶為詐取保險金而殺害兒子，決心暗中對朱重德(黃秋生 飾)和沈子玲(林嘉欣 飾)夫婦展開調(diào)查，恐嚇隨即接二連三發(fā)生在他及戀人文惠儀(湯怡 飾)身上，在又一起命案發(fā)生后，他愕然發(fā)覺事情和他的判斷并不一樣…

The duo become a trio as well-to-do Lou joins them, and life on the island takes shape under the command of devout Matron. The trio rail against the system, dubious of the benevolence of the bible and taking refuge in their blossoming friendship. It’s hard to reform girls who don’t believe they need reforming. However, a sense of doom settles in when experimental forms of punishment take place in the dead of night. Nellie and Daisy plot rebellion, but unexpectedly find themselves at odds with Lou, who is afraid to break the rules.

　　World War II is around the corner, but the only thing Sally Bauer can think of is the ocean. Her dream is to swim across the English Channel. Her father has tried to exorcise her obsession with swimming since she was a toddler, without success. An unwanted pregnancy forces her to abandon her dream – and herself. There is no place left for her dreams and Sally is pulled into bottomless darkness, until her sister Carla saves her. With renewed purpose, together the sisters begin to dismantle the conventions they are constantly facing. In late August 1939, Sally stands on the shore at Dover and takes her first step into the English Channel. She swims across the open and icy sea for 15 hours, waving to the Navy who are readying for war. A couple of days after Sally swims ashore at Calais, Poland is invaded.
