Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.  影片講述一個導演，克服了各種困難拍攝一部講述羅馬尼亞獨立戰(zhàn)爭大片的故事，值得一提的是，這部影片就是羅馬尼亞1912年拍攝的第一部電影史詩——《獨立戰(zhàn)爭》。《余下的就是沉默》盡管根據(jù)真人真事改編，但是男主角電影導演卻是虛構(gòu)的，他為了拍電影一方面要籌募資金，另一方面還要提防一家法國電影公司竊取他的創(chuàng)意。該片公映后好評如潮，一舉囊括了2009年羅馬尼亞GOPO電影獎最佳影片、最佳編劇、最佳女主角等九項大獎，被譽為羅馬尼亞近二十年最出眾的影片之一。
