　　影片靈感來自迪士尼樂園同名游樂設施，“在一個讓人不寒而栗的鬼屋中進行一趟令人毛骨悚然的旅行，有幽靈、食尸鬼和超自然力量帶來的驚嚇”，聚焦一個搬進了這棟豪宅的家庭。

　　水樹沙羅（島崎遙香 飾）是一個在演藝圈打拼多年的青年女演員，雖然她努力磨練演技，勤奮專注，卻始終未得到世人的關注。在此期間她受到來自事務所的壓力，二者相權之際最終選擇參加劇作家錦野豪太（小市慢太郎 飾）的新作《鮮血的召喚》的試鏡。《鮮血的召喚》根據史上真實人物嗜血如命的伊麗莎白的故事改編，為了美這個女人不惜殘害鮮活的生命。沙羅與同事務所小有名氣的女星筱原葵（高田里穗 飾）一同試鏡，兩人最終分別獲得了農家女孩安娜以及主角伊麗莎白的角色。　　在排演過程中，放置在舞臺中央的人偶似乎有了自己的意識，讓本就為了榮光而近乎癲狂的女子們更走向了崩潰的邊緣……

A story of redemption in a world gone dark.

　　Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
