Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　《瑪德琳的瑪德琳》是美國女導演約瑟芬·戴克最新的一部作品。這部電影講述了一個戲劇導演，在創作她最近的作品時所產生的故事。這也是約瑟芬·戴克的第14部作品。作品中的角色和她本人頗為相似，同樣作為導演的她，也是一名演員。戴克以往的作品，總是帶著一定程度上的形式化的美感，也顯露著女性特有的細膩。在她的作品中，鏡頭更像是一雙可以無限接近角色人物的眼睛，時刻捕捉著主觀視角下的人物的行動和當時的情內心狀態。
