母親的身影，總是這麼近，又那麼遠。外婆去世，八歲的奈莉隨媽媽回舊居收拾，但大人哀傷的世界卻容不下孩子走進。與爸爸相依的奈莉獨自走到森林尋找媽媽兒時搭建的樹屋，遇上同齡的瑪莉安，名字跟母親一樣，兩人開展了一段短暫而親密的友誼。
