在一輛開往莫斯科的火車上，軍事學院的學生安德烈.托爾斯泰（歐列格·緬?？品?Oleg Menshikov飾）偶遇了風情萬種的美國女人珍（朱莉婭·奧蒙德 Julia Ormond 飾），兩人暗生情愫。珍謊稱自己是個寡婦，來俄羅斯看 望瘋狂的機械師父親（理查德·哈里斯 Richard Harris 飾），但實際上是被請來騙取軍事學院院長拉德洛夫將軍（阿列克謝·彼得連科 Aleksey Petrenko 飾）信任的交際花，好讓機械師的“西伯利亞理發師”伐木機能夠順利駛進西柏林亞。但是沒想到將軍對珍動了真感情，并想向她求婚，而安德烈對珍的感情愈演愈烈，珍一方面想接受安德烈的感情，另一方面又想完成任務，于是事件發展到了不可收拾的地步。在一次演出中安德烈因為嫉妒和誤會，抽傷了院長，被流放到了西伯利亞。在火車站上盡管珍趕上了最后的送別，但是安德烈始終沒能和珍見最后一面。十年后，珍終于在西伯利亞找到了安德烈的住所，但終究逃不過命運的改變……若干年后珍回到了美國，把這段往事在信中講述給了軍事學院的兒子。

Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
