以大膽寫實手法反映香港X世代敢作敢為的性愛故事，全部起用新人演出，其中的陳小春、周嘉玲、張睿玲和陳豪均表現杰出而崛起影壇。這一批社會新鮮人在白天都有正常工作，但晚上九點至翌晨五點才是他們的人生黃金檔。在夜店中開懷暢飲高歌，在床上或汽車內享受一夜情，一直到第二天喝過早茶才愿意散伙。如此揮霍青春的結果，有人徒勞無功，有人樂極生悲，有人夢醒離隊尋找新的生活。由于編劇阮世生和導演陳德森成功地塑造了幾個主角，并以紀錄片式的演員訪問鏡頭恰當地穿插于劇情中，使本片呈現出不同流俗的清新風格和娛樂效果，跟臺灣的同類新人類電影相比較大異其趣。
